What Should Be the Aim of President Biden’s Democracy Summit?

Just Security considers the invitee list to the Summit, considering the historical context and precedent of US-led summits to support democracy. Moving forward, a regular process of annual or biannual meetings at the level of heads of states or governments should be established, particularly through the support of key international institutions such as the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the pan-European Council of Europe. Examples of potential models of cooperation are taken from the economic sphere.
